Police in Denton are in the process of investigating a recent crash that left three people dead and another three injured. This crash occurred May 23 on U.S. Highway 380. As of the latest report, the cause of this collision is unknown.

The incident

Local news reported that this crash shut down the highway for several hours for cleanup and investigation. While it is unclear what caused the crash, authorities say the two vehicles hit head-on in the westbound lanes. The driver of one car — a 31-year-old female — and two passengers in the other — a 5-month-old girl and her 4-year-old sister — died as a result of the wreck. The adult was found dead on the scene, and the girls both passed away at the hospital. Three adults were also taken to the hospital, two of whom were initially listed in critical condition.

What happens now?

Police will continue their investigation to hopefully provide answers to the families affected by this tragic incident. If they haven’t already, the families will likely pursue compensation for their losses by filing claims with either their own insurance providers or, when the responsible party is identified, his or her insurance provider. What if the compensation offered isn’t enough?

Legal action

If insurance fails to offer acceptable compensation for the losses suffered in this head-on collision, the victims may be entitled to pursue legal action in order to seek maximum relief. In most cases, a fair settlement may be achieved through out-of-court negotiations. For some, though, litigating in a Texas civil court may prove appropriate and necessary. Legal counsel can review the details of this case as more become available and assist the surviving victims in seeking fair and appropriate damages for their losses.
