The Texas Highway Patrol recently responded to an accident that left several people injured. This car crash occurred Saturday, Oct. 10, around 9 p.m. in Lindsay. The driver believed responsible for the wreck is just a teenager.
According to reports, a 16-year-old male was traveling southbound on Farm-to-Market Road 1199 when he failed to yield at the U.S. 82 intersection. His vehicle was hit by a Ford F-250 traveling in the westbound lane of the U.S. 82. The teen and one of his passengers were transported to a medical facility in Denton in critical condition. Two other passengers were taken to another hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The driver of the Ford is said to have walked away unharmed.
No further details are available about this incident. Police are still in the process of investigating. It is unclear if any citations or criminal charges have been filed against the young driver.
Too often teenagers are involved in significant motor vehicle accidents that result in injury or death. Victims of such a car crash, particularly passengers in the responsible party’s vehicle or victims with delayed-onset injuries, may feel there is little they can do to seek relief for their losses, but that is not true. Claims are possible against the driver deemed negligent and any separate owner of the vehicle he or she was operating at the time of the accident. The damages that follow a Texas car crash can be significant. The medical expenses, property damage, emotional trauma and physical injuries can be a lot from which to recover. With the assistance of counsel, maximum relief can be sought through negotiation or litigation.
