The last few years have been difficult and frustrating for most adults, and it is no surprise to learn that driver behavior is more aggressive than ever before. Many believe that drivers are angrier and more frustrated now than they were a few years ago, and this could increase the chance of a crash. Drivers with these emotions may be more likely to make reckless decisions behind the wheel.
A recent survey of Texas drivers found that 20% of them are more frustrated now than they were two years ago, and these emotions may be related to reasons that include health and safety concerns, economic frustrations and more. The study also found that many drivers are angry over the reckless choices of other drivers, especially distracted driving.
Studies find that two out of three drivers become angry when they see other drivers texting or using their phones. Aggressive driving also seems to be on the rise, including changing lanes without proper signal and speeding in heavy traffic. Drivers often feel that other motorists do what they want without regard for the safety of others.
Poor driving decisions can negatively affect others. Regardless of whether a driver was angry, distracted or in a hurry, each individual is responsible for decisions made behind the wheel that result in a crash. Those harmed due to the reckless behaviors or negligence of others may have grounds to pursue compensation through a civil claim.
