Police in Texas are in the process of investigating an accident that left two people dead and one with critical injuries. This event occurred Jan. 31, on Interstate 35W in Denton County. The driver believed responsible has been arrested and charged for his role in the crash.
According to reports, a 28-year-old male was operating his Audi A6 northbound on the interstate when he changed lanes and collided with another vehicle. The impacted car then hit a concrete barrier and rolled multiple times before stopping. When police arrived at the scene, they found a 59-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl had died as a result of their injuries. Another child—a 3-year-old boy—was hurt but alive and was transported to the children’s hospital in critical condition.
The young man who caused the crash failed to remain at the scene or call for help. Witnesses say he stopped for only a moment before exiting the interstate and traveling southbound. Law enforcement officers located him a short distance from the accident scene, as he had pulled over due to a flat tire. He was promptly arrested and taken to Denton County Jail. Bond was set in his case at $600,000.
This tragic event has left a family devastated and a young child fighting for his life. The physical, financial and emotional consequences associated with this crash will certainly take their toll in the days, weeks and years to come. Thankfully, the state of Texas allows victims of auto collisions or—in the event of fatality—their surviving loved ones to seek compensation for their losses. With the assistance of legal counsel, relief may be sought by filing any applicable legal claims against the individual responsible for this incident. Compensation can then be sought through out-of-court negotiations or litigation.
